  Roger Bannister

  • ·         The excellence achieved by Roger Bannister is that he became the first to have completed a mile in less than 4 minutes.
  • ·         This excellence was achieved by training with his friends and not giving up on his long runs.
  • ·         Technology could’ve impacted this experience by not letting him concentrate and making him loose focus on his running.
  • ·         Reflection: I think that this experience is a great experience because only some people are capable of doing this and he was on of them.

REAL-LIFE TRANSFORMERS

  • This innovation is basically a real life transformer. A Turkish company has started to build transformers out of BMW 3 series coupe. It took about 12 engineers and 4 supporting technicians 8 months to complete this prototype.
  • This will impact many people as it is seen in just a movie and now it has come true. They will be able to see it transform into a robot and a car in person.
  • This innovation may not solve any problems. Maybe it can be a way of not using computers and actually using real life things.
  • I think this is a real cool innovation that should've been invented years ago. Its surprise me that they actually did it knowing how difficult it must’ve been.

 Mikaele Oloa

  • The excellence achieved by Mikaele Oloa is that he became the 2005 and 2006 World Fire Knife dance champion at the age of 15. That made him the youngest person to ever compete and win that competition.
  • This excellence was achieved by practicing and not giving up. Although he was young, he didn’t let that stop him from trying to compete.
  • Technology could’ve impacted him by not letting him focus on his main priority and wasting his time on other useless things instead of practicing.
  • I believe that this is a great way of showing what arete can lead you to. He decided that he was going to be arete and it gave him the patience to keep practicing and not giving up. If he would’ve given up, he probably wouldn't be known for his great achievement today.

Technological Innovations

  • This innovation is an invention that was created to watch 3D movies without wearing the ugly 3D glasses.
  • This innovation was created to watch movies in the movies or at your home while wearing nothing  because it is all in the tv.
  • This innovation can solve the problem of sharing glasses without disinfecting them. Also it can be a better alternative to using those ugly glasses.
  • I think that this is a great innovation invented because you won't have to reuse other people's glasses that have not been disinfected which can be a health risk. Also it can be better to not wear those uncomfortable glasses all the time and get dizzy.

Nathan Sawaya

  • The excellence that was achieved by Nathan Sawaya was that he is an artist that creates awe-inspiring of works of art that are made of the most unlikely things. That is legos. He makes pieces of art out of legos.
  • This excellence was achieved by being an arete person that never gives up and does what they want.
  • Technology could have impacted this arete experience by not letting him concentrate and make him focus on unnecessary things.
  • I think that this is a great way of showing arete because it sh0ws how he was committed to doing this achievement and he never gave up.

Technological Innovations

  • This innovation invented is a small rubbery octobot that is made from gel  that doesn't run on any wires or batteries just liquid.
  • This innovation will impact everyone because this robot can be used to adapt more to the environment and can be used to interact with people.
  • This octobot can solve the problem of actually using robots that run on batteries or wires. This robot only runs on liquid.
  • I think that this innovation can be very helpful to those that like robots and can benefit from them. Since this is a soft jelly-like robot it isn't hard or metal so you can interact better with it at any given situation.

Blown to Bits Ch. 3

In this chapter, it talks about the old disks that were used in computers. They belonged to a certain person from the syrian government. There was a story about the former Prime Minister of Lebanese. They accused his brother, the former, commander of the Republican Guard. They discovered that in his computer was secrets that showed them the truth of who killed the Lebanese prime minister. They made him erase his history and change computers. Years later, they bought those disks and found out some interesting things. What surprised me the most about this chapter is that we think that we can actually erase things from our computers but in reality they don’t. The things you erase can really never be erased unless it’s erased from the actual disks.

Blown to Bits Ch. 2

This chapter talks about how it  is dangerous to share private information on any computer. It can lead to identity theft, stealing money from credits and many other things. Also they talk about how tracking devices can help you do things you could never imagine doing or figuring out. For example it says that tracking devices can help anyone even criminals which can be used to follow people. Not only that but by using tracking devices it can lead you to finding information about the government and other jobs as well. What mostly stood out to me was that using simple things like tracking devices to find out a lot of information about government things.

 Technological Innovations

  • This innovation can make it snow any month of the year. It is a Snow Factory that generates snow in order for skiers to be able to ski all year long.
  • This innovation can and will impact plenty of snowboarders, skiers, etc. Since they have to wait all year in order for the next winter in order to do their activities, Now they won't have to wait because they can get snow any time.
  • This innovation will help solve problems like animals like polar bears have a nice home that has a lot of snow to live on. Not only that but the people who enjoy the snow can have fun as well.
  • I think that this innovation is a good thing that was invented because now everyone can get snow anywhere they would like. For the people who have never seen or touched so, now they can travel to where this snow factory is at and touch snow.

Carl & Margaret Karcher

  • The excellence that was achieved by these two people is that they founded Carl's Jr.
  • This excellence was achieved by being arete people and achieving what they wanted. They never gave up, even when the started small they ,managed to become one of today's most popular food chains.
  • This arete experience could have been impacted by technology by making them lose focus of what they wanted to achieve. They would've focused more on technology stuff then in their food stand.
  • Reflection: I think that this excellence achieved was great because if it weren't for them trying to accomplish something, they wouldn't have Carl's jr. one of the most famous fast food places. I learned that if i want something in life i should work hard and not give up. I should also live an arete life.

 Innovations

  • A new innovation has been invented called the “atomic memory”. It is a new device that decodes data that can store hundreds times more data than a regular hard drive.
  • This new technological innovation can impact many technological people that really into science and have plenty of data to store.
  • This will solve problems of people that do not have many storage in their computer, phone, etc.
  • I think that this new innovation is good because it can help many people out with their technological problems of storing.
